Musharraf Declares Martial Law
President Musharraf of Pakistan declared a state of emergency on the 3rd of November, 2007. Security forces were placed on high alert, detaining hundreds of activists on the eve of an anti-government rally in Karachi.

An extra 15,000 police and paramilitary troops have been deployed to Karachi. The democratic elections have been suspended and 1,500 lawyers, judges, and political activists have been rounded up following the declaration of emergency due to "judicial activism."

This is a good example of how a dictator can take the reigns of power and suspend civil liberties in the name of protecting 'democracy.' The power brokers in Washington are watching this as a 'dry run' of what it would look like to declare martial law.

This could easily happen in America. When the economy crashes and the subsequent food riots errupt our country will look like Pakistan.

First Lady Frenzy

The first lady of Argentina, Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, opened doors for women all over the world on Oct 28. Like other first ladies have done, Fernandez was able to ride her Husbands popularity to success. Becoming the first woman to be elected to lead Argentina as their President. For many Americans this is an encouraging hope but for many others this seems like a horrifying foreshadow of doom to come.
